 "Buy it!" 2009-07-28

There is no one "perfect" fishing book. It will take at upwards of a dozen books to start a basic fishing library. If you have to chose a single book to start your personal fishing library, this should be the one.

I was at first at bit dismayed that the book was not two inches thick. Then I noticed how slowly I was reading it. It dawned on me that my slow reading pace was due to the content being so engaging and relevant. Even with all my years of fishing experience, I wanted to make sure I did not miss a thing. I went back to read it a second time and used a yellow highlighter to mark passages I wanted to refer back to. I was amazed at how much I highlighted.

I odered this book as a Christmas Gift for my husband. Never heard of it, but bought it based on the reviews already written. My husband told me it's a great book, very infomative yet humorus. He told me I made a great choice.

 "Sweet, funny, informative" 2008-09-19

The author *loves* fishing. The book is as much a love song as a textbook, and I enjoyed it all the more for that. Great insights, side-splitting passages (like the description of the avid angler's "Heightened Awareness" at the tackle shop), and solid information. I haven't had this much fun reading *anything* in quite a while.

 "a Must Have" 2008-08-23
By Terry Loftin (Fort Collins, CO United States)
I liked this book, it was a good read. It was fairly short (for a book) and to the point. Get a different book to tell you what all the different lure types are, how to tie knots, and what equipment to buy, then read this book to find out how to go about using all that stuff and maybe even why you'd want to.

"Get into the fish's head!" 2008-04-25
By Jeffrey L. Moon (Pocatello, ID USA)
This book was an excellent insight into how fish think. It was fairly introductory, and there was probably a lot that a seasoned fisherman would already know, but I found it enjoyable. It seemed to have a lot of info about protecting the sport, and had somewhat of an "us versus them" feel when talking about people who were against fishing. A fun, quick read for anybody who wants to know a little bit more about fish and their habits, some strategies for catching them, or if you just want to get away into your own head when the weather isn't cooperating for you to get out on the water.
